 English Class 12 Syllabus 2025-26 Section A

To assess comprehension, interpretation, analysis, and inference, one previously unseen passage was employed. Inference will be utilised to assess vocabulary as well. The paragraph might be informative, descriptive, or literary. One unseen case-based factual passage containing verbal/visual inputs such as statistical data, charts, and so on was used to assess understanding, interpretation, analysis, inference, and assessment.

CBSE Class 12 English Syllabus Section B

Take note of the 50-word restriction. One of the two questions must be addressed. One point for proper spelling and grammar, two points for content, and four points for format.

  1. Formal/informal invitation and response of up to 50 words. One of the two questions must be addressed. (4 points: 1 for format, 2 for content, and 1 for spelling and grammar).
  2. Letters must be responded to in 120-150 words using verbal/visual input. A letter type is an application for a job containing bio-data or résumé. Letters to the editor (suggestions or thoughts on issues of public concern). A response to one of the two questions is required. (5 Marks: 1) Format: 1 / Idea Organisation: 1 / Content: 2 / Spelling and Grammar Accuracy: 1).
  3. Writing a descriptive and analytical article/report based on verbal inputs, to be addressed in 120-150 words. A response to one of the two questions is required. (5 Marks: Format: 1 / Idea Organisation: 1/Content: 2 / Spelling and Grammar Accuracy: 1).

CBSE Class 12 English Literature Syllabus Section C

To assess understanding, interpretation, analysis, assessment, and extrapolation beyond the text, this part will include multiple choice, objective, short answer, and long answer questions.

  1. To assess comprehension, interpretation, analysis, inference, and appreciation, one poetry excerpt from the book Flamingo was selected. (6×1=6) Marks
  2. To test comprehension, interpretation, analysis, appraisal, and appreciation, one Prose excerpt from the book Vistas out of two is used. (4×1=4 Marks)
  3. Use one of two literary samples from the novel Flamingo to assess comprehension, interpretation, analysis, inference, and assessment. (6×1=6) Marks
  4. Short answer questions (from Flamingo's Prose and Poetry) must be answered in 40-50 words. Inferential replies should be elicited via critical thinking in response to questions. The answers to five of the six questions must be provided. (5×2=10) Marks
  5. Prose (Vistas) short answer questions must be answered in 40- 50 words. Inferential replies should be elicited via critical thinking in response to questions. Two of the three questions may be answered. (2×2=4 Marks)
  6. In 120-150 words, address one lengthy response question from Prose/Poetry (Flamingo). To examine extrapolation beyond and across the text, questions might be focused on an incident/topic/passage/extract/event as a reference point. The student will provide an analytical and evaluative response to the query. Two questions need to be addressed. (1×5=5 Marks)
  7. To assess global understanding and extrapolation beyond the text, one lengthy response question based on chapters from the book Vistas is to be answered in 120-150 words.
