AI is booming in almost every field, yet most video editors have not started using it. About 90% of editors still do not use AI in their work. With the growing use of AI tools, video editors can work 10 times faster and better, from making small fixes to creating advanced effects.
AI for video editors can be used in three areas: photos, videos and audio. In photos, AI can create images, PNGs and icons, and fix or enhance pictures. In videos, it can generate clips, motion graphics and avatars. In audio, it can generate voices and clean up background noise. You can also explore mobile courses by PW Earners to learn digital skills and explore practical applications of AI.
Editors often spend a lot of time searching for overlays, PNGs or B-roll images. Instead, you can generate them. Open an AI app such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok. Type a simple prompt like “Create an image of a boy studying on a table.”
You can then edit the result. You can change:
The camera angle
The clothes and their colour
Props, such as removing a lamp or adding more books
The background
The aspect ratio: 1:1, 16:9 for YouTube or 9:16 for Shorts
You can ask for a PNG, such as “Create a PNG of a Rolex watch with a red and black colour combination.” The image comes without a background, so you can use it as an overlay. You can also make icons, such as import, export, smartwatch or stopwatch icons. A detailed prompt gives a better result.
Google Gemini with Nano Banana Pro is used for image editing. Upload a photo and keep the prompt short, such as “Remove headphones from this image.” A long prompt may change other parts of the image. You can then write “Add earphones in ears” to add earbuds. Before-and-after images like these work well as B-roll.
To replace objects, you can use Grok. In the video, he uploaded a photo of himself holding two phones and asked Grok to replace them with old keypad phones. On the free Fast mode, it took about six seconds. If the result is not right, keep prompting until it is.
Sometimes an image is copyrighted or used everywhere. Upload it to Claude and ask it to “Write a prompt for this image.” Paste that prompt into Gemini. You get a similar but different image. In the example, the pink hat and blue shirt stayed the same, but the face and background changed. This way, you avoid copyright issues.
Upload a daylight photo to Claude and ask it to convert it to sunset. If the result only adds a warm tone, ask again for night time. You can also reduce exposure or change the sky in the same way.
In Gemini, you can upload a very old, blurry photo with an enhancement prompt. In the example, the result was sharp, and even the writing on the board became readable. The face changed slightly because the original was so blurry. With clearer photos, the face stays almost the same.
Many faceless videos use a cartoon character that lip-syncs. To make your own:
Upload a reference image, such as an anime character, to Claude.
Ask Claude to create a prompt so you can make your own face character with Nano Banana Pro.
Upload your own photo to Gemini with that prompt.
Refine the pose, framing, hands and accessories.
For lip sync, download a green-screen mouth animation from YouTube. Place it in CapCut, remove the green screen and put it over the character’s lips.
In Gemini, tap the plus icon, then Videos. Describe the clip, such as “A boy playing football alone in a field in summer daylight.” Gemini makes 10-second clips by default. You can ask for shorter ones. You can also change the person’s age, clothes, location and camera angles.
With Gemini Pro, you can generate three or four videos a day. Google Flow adds 1,000 monthly credits, which is enough for 30 to 40 more videos.
Upload your photo and write a prompt, such as that you are looking at the camera and talking about video editing. In the example, Gemini made a 10-second clip of him speaking naturally with matching dialogue.
Search for “Google Flow” and open Google Labs. Choose Try Omni and upload your video. In the example, the video was 8 seconds long. The prompt was “Replace the light in my hand with Hanuman ji’s mace.” He used ingredients mode, a 9:16 ratio, 1x output and Omni Flash, which cost 20 credits. The mace moved naturally with his hand.
With Omni, you can also change the colour of curtains, put a monkey on your back, or remove the background and replace it with a green screen.
Motion graphics like those made in After Effects are hard to create in CapCut, VN or Alight Motion. In Gemini Videos, you can describe what you want. For example, ask for a subscriber growth bar chart with bars appearing one by one, a glow effect, a dark background, YouTube red, clean 2D and 1080×1920 size. You can even give numbers, such as growth from 0 to 10, then 10 to 50.
In Gemini, tap the plus icon, then Avatar. If you do not see it, go to Menu, then Settings, then Avatar. Face the camera, turn your head as instructed and read the numbers on the screen aloud.
After the avatar is ready, type @ and your avatar’s name. Then describe the setup, background, ratio and script. Each clip is 10 seconds long. Make three or four clips to build a 30 to 40 second Short.
This popular hook effect shows an object putting itself together.
Take a screenshot of a product, such as a camera or car.
Upload it to Gemini with a disassembly prompt, so the product appears in separate parts.
In Google Flow, create a new project. Choose Video, then Frames.
Set the disassembled image as the first frame and the assembled image as the end frame.
Switch the model to Veo 3, because Omni does not support an end frame.
Choose Quality mode, which costs about 100 credits. Add your prompt and generate.
The same method works for a shop or object appearing out of an empty background.
If your credits run out, the creator suggests a free motion graphics website. You can customise templates by changing the start and end times, background and text colours, scale, rotation, speed, opacity, duration and font. On your phone, switch to desktop mode, log in with Google and export as MP4.
AI audio tools help creators generate realistic voiceovers for videos, tutorials, and social media content. With the right voice settings and text formatting, you can make AI-generated speech sound more natural and engaging.
The creator’s favourite tool is ElevenLabs. Go to Voices, then Text to Speech. Punctuation is the most important tip. Without commas, full stops and line breaks, the AI reads everything in one flat rhythm and sounds robotic. With punctuation, it pauses and stretches words like a real person.
After choosing a voice:
Use the V2 model, as V3 is still in trial.
Adjust speed and stability.
Set similarity to about 90.
Click Generate Speech.
New accounts get 10,000 free credits a month.
In CapCut, select your clip and turn on Reduce Noise. In the example, this removed only some of the noise. For a cleaner result, tap Isolate Voice and choose Keep Voice. All the background noise disappeared, and CapCut does not change the pitch.
The same Isolate tool can split songs. Keep Voice gives you only the vocals. Remove Voice keeps only the background music, which you can reuse for your own song.
No. An automatic video editor AI will not finish your whole video on its own. But AI can create overlays, fix photos, make B-roll, build motion graphics and avatars, generate voices and clean up audio in minutes. Add these tools to your workflow to edit faster and better.
