CLAT 2026 Application Form

CLAT  Registration 2026 is likely to begin in July 2025. The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) will release the CLAT 2026 notification on the official website at consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The notification will have all details related to CLAT exam dates. Based on the previous year’s exam cycle, it is expected that CLAT 206 will be conducted in December 2025.

Candidates must visit the official website to register, fill in personal and academic details, upload required documents, select NLU preferences, and pay the application fee online. The CLAT application window will remain open until October 2025, providing ample time for aspirants to complete all formalities. The registration fee is set at Rs. 4,000 for candidates from the general category, while it's Rs. 3,500 for those from the SC, ST, and BPL categories. Question papers cost Rs. 500 more.

CLAT Registration Dates 2026

As per the previous year’s CLAT exam schedule, CLAT registration 2026 may start from July 2025. Candidates will have until October 2025 to complete and submit their CLAT applications through the official website at consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Eligibility Criteria for CLAT Registration 2026

Before proceeding with the CLAT application form, aspirants must ensure they align with the CLAT eligibility criteria. These criteria are set by the Consortium of National Law Universities and cover factors such as educational qualifications, minimum marks, and other conditions for both undergraduate law programs. A concise summary of these criteria is provided below. 

  • Aspirants should have completed Class 12, securing a minimum of 45% marks. 
  • SC and ST candidates need 40% from a recognised board or institution. 
  • There is no upper age limit for appearing in the exam. 
  • Candidates appearing for their class 12th exam can also sit for CLAT 2026. They need to provide the evidence of their qualifying examination at the time of admission. 

How to Fill CLAT Registration Form 2026?

CLAT 2026 registration is expected to begin in the second week of July 2025 and will likely close by the last week of October 2025. Candidates can apply online through the official Consortium of NLUs website. The application process is uniform for both undergraduate and postgraduate aspirants, and all instructions must be followed carefully to ensure successful submission. Here is the step-wise application process for CLAT 2026. 

1.  CLAT Registration

  • Visit the official CLAT website at consortiumofnlus.ac.in.  
  • Click on the registration link for CLAT 2026. 
  • Enter your basic details such as name, mobile number, email ID, and create a password. 
  • Complete the verification process via OTP or email link to generate your login credentials.

2. Filling the Application Form

  • Log in using your registered credentials. 
  • Fill in the application form with accurate personal, academic, and communication details. 
  • You must also select your preferred NLUs and exam center choices at this stage.

3. Uploading Documents

  • Upload scanned copies of required documents, including your recent passport-size photograph, signature, 10th and 12th marksheets, category certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate (if applicable), and valid photo ID proof.
  • Ensure all uploads meet the prescribed size and format guidelines. 

4. Payment of Application Fee

  • Pay the application fee online through net banking, debit card, or credit card. 
  • The fee amount varies by category.

5. Submission and Confirmation

  • Review all entered details and uploaded documents for accuracy before final submission. 
  • After submitting, download and save a copy of the completed application form and payment receipt for future reference.

CLAT 2026 Application Fee

The CLAT 2026 application fee is a mandatory payment required to complete the registration process for the exam. The fee can be paid online through debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI, and additional transaction charges may apply depending on the payment method. This fee is non-refundable and must be paid within the application window to ensure successful submission of the CLAT 2026 application form.

How to Recover CLAT 2026 Login Password?

In case, candidates forgets their login password, they can recover it by following the steps mentioned below. 

  • Visit the official CLAT Consortium website. Go to the login page.
  • Click on the "Forgot Password" link at the bottom of the login window.
  • Enter your registered mobile number or registration number as prompted.
  • Click on "Request OTP" to receive a one-time password on your registered mobile number.
  • Enter the OTP received. 
  • Create a new password and confirm it. 
  • Use this new password to login. 

CLAT 2026 Application Correction Window

CLAT 2026 application correction window will be available online in October 2025, shortly after the application deadline. It provides candidates with an opportunity to review and edit details in their submitted application forms. During this period, applicants can log in to the official CLAT portal and rectify any errors or update information to ensure their form is accurate before final submission. Once the window closes, no further changes will be accepted. 

Steps to Edit CLAT Application Form 2026

Candidates can follow the given steps to edit their CLAT application form when the correction window opens. 

  • Visit the official CLAT website consortiumofnlus.ac.in.  
  • Click on the application correction link when the window opens.
  • Log in using your registered mobile number and password to access your application dashboard.
  • Click on the "Edit Application" button to make changes in permissible sections such as personal details, category, seat reservation, and NLU preferences.
  • Carefully review and update the required information.
  • Click “Next” and check the declaration box to confirm your changes. 
  • Save and submit the corrected application form before the correction window closes, as no further changes will be allowed after the deadline.

CLAT 2026 Seat Intake

The participating National Law Universities (NLUs) will only accept CLAT scores for admission to law courses. The seat intake is approximately 3,213 seats for undergraduate (UG) programs and around 1,217 seats for postgraduate (PG) courses, excluding supernumerary, NRI, and extra seats. These seats are distributed among various NLUs, with each university having its own reservation policies for categories like OBC, SC, ST, PwD, and others. 

CLAT Admit Card 2026

The CLAT Admit Card 2026 will be released online by the Consortium of National Law Universities, typically a few weeks before the exam date in November 2025. It provides important details such as the candidate’s name, roll number, exam center address, and reporting time. Candidates must carry the admit card along with a valid photo ID to the examination center, as entry will not be permitted without it.
