The provisional answer keys and recorded responses are being made available for candidates who appeared in the UGC NET June 2026 examination.
Candidates can log in through the official portal to view their responses and compare them with the provisional answer key. If a candidate believes that an answer is incorrect, an objection can be submitted during the prescribed challenge window.
The provisional answer key is subject to revision after the objections are examined by designated subject matter experts.
NTA has not included English, Commerce and Sociology in the current provisional answer key challenge process.
According to the August 16 notice, a committee was constituted to examine complaints regarding various types of errors in the question papers of these three subjects. NTA stated that a separate public notice regarding these subjects would be issued later on August 16.
Candidates belonging to these subjects should therefore wait for the separate notice and follow the instructions issued by NTA.
The UGC NET June 2026 answer key challenge window is open from August 16 to August 18, 2026.
Candidates can submit their challenges only through the online mode during this period. The last date for both submitting the challenge and paying the processing fee is August 18, 2026, up to 11:59 PM.
Candidates should submit objections well before the deadline to avoid any last-minute technical or payment-related issues.

The fee must be paid by 11:59 PM on August 18, 2026. NTA has clearly stated that challenges submitted without the required processing fee will not be entertained.

After the challenge window closes, the objections submitted by candidates will be examined by the designated subject matter experts.
If a challenge is found to be correct on merit, the provisional answer key will be revised. The responses of candidates will then be evaluated against the revised final answer key for preparing and declaring the UGC NET result.
NTA has also clarified that individual decisions on each challenge will not be communicated separately to candidates. However, the revised final answer key will be published on the official website before the results are declared.
Yes. The ₹200 processing fee will be refunded in full for every challenge accepted by the expert panel.
However, the fee is applicable at the time of submitting the challenge. Candidates should therefore complete the required payment within the challenge window.
Candidates should keep the following points in mind while challenging the provisional answer key:
The challenge window is open from August 16 to August 18, 2026.
The last date and time for submitting challenges is August 18, 2026, up to 11:59 PM.
The processing fee is ₹200 per question challenged.
The fee is refundable in full if the challenge is accepted.
Challenges can be submitted only through the online mode.
Challenges sent through email, fax, letter or other modes will not be accepted.
A challenge submitted without the required fee will not be entertained.
If a challenge is accepted, the correction will be applied uniformly to all candidates of that subject.
Candidates do not need to submit the same challenge more than once.
No challenge or grievance regarding the answer key will be entertained after the challenge window closes or after the result is declared.
The final UGC NET answer key will be prepared after NTA examines the objections submitted by candidates.
Where an objection is found correct, the provisional answer key will be revised. The final answer key prepared after considering the challenges will be treated as final. NTA will use the revised final answer key to evaluate candidates' responses for the purpose of preparing the result.
Candidates should therefore use the provisional answer key to estimate their performance but wait for the final answer key for the official evaluation.
