NEET PG 2025 Exam New Date : The Supreme Court has allowed the National Board of Examinations (NBE) to reschedule theNEET-PG 2025 exam to August 3, granting an extension from the earlier date of June 15. The Court, while initially questioning the need for a two-month delay, accepted NBE's explanation that conducting the exam in a single shift for 2.5 lakh candidates requires doubling the number of test centres, ensuring security, and managing logistical challenges. The NBE also cited input from its technical partner TCS, which confirmed August 3 as the earliest feasible date.
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced the revised schedule for NEET PG 2025. In line with a Supreme Court directive, the exam will now be conducted in a single shift on August 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. To ensure equitable access, additional exam cities and centres have been introduced. Candidates can modify their preferred test cities between June 13 (3 PM) and June 17 (11:55 PM) via the official NBEMS portal. City allotment will be based on a first-come, first-served basis.
Supreme Court Allows NBE More Time to Conduct the Exam
In an important update for medical aspirants, the NEET PG 2025 exam will now be held on August 3, 2025, instead of the earlier scheduled date of June 15. The Supreme Court of India approved the new date after the National Board of Examinations (NBE) requested more time for proper arrangements.
TheNEET PG 2025 exam has been officially rescheduled to August 3, 2025, as per the latest order by the Supreme Court. Originally set for June 15, the exam was postponed after the Court directed that it be conducted in a single shift instead of two. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) cited logistical and technical challenges, including the need to double the number of exam centres and ensure adequate security and infrastructure. The Supreme Court accepted the request and confirmed that no further extensions will be allowed. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official NBE website for further updates.
Why Was the Exam Postponed?
On May 30, 2025, the Supreme Court had directed that theNEET PG exammust be held in a single shift instead of two. Earlier, the exam was planned in two shifts, which required fewer exam centres.
Since the exam now needs to be conducted in a single shift for over 2.5 lakh candidates, the number of centres has to be doubled from 450 to 900. This major change requires:
Finding and setting up twice the number of centres
Ensuring tight security and anti-cheating measures
Managing technical setups and computer systems
Hiring and training a large number of staff
Reopening the application portal for fresh city preferences
Conducting mock drills and system tests
According to the NBE and its technology partner TCS, the earliest available date to safely and successfully conduct the exam is August 3, 2025.
What Did the Supreme Court Say?
A bench led by Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice Augustine George Masih questioned the delay but ultimately agreed that the NBE’s request was genuine. The Court said it was satisfied with the reasons provided and gave permission to hold the exam on the new date.
However, the bench made it clear that no further extension will be granted.
